OKLAHOMA CITYThe Oklahoma City Medical Examiner said at least 51 people died, including children, when a powerful, 200-mph tornado ripped through the area Monday. The death toll is expected to climb.

Two hospitals confirmed they were treating a total of 120 injured, including about 70 children. The Moore City Police Department said it was impossible to put a final number on fatalities because there was still so much area to search. According to Reuters, rescue workers are still looking for about 2 dozen children who are unaccounted for.

Local pet lovers were recently shocked when they realized that a Texas dog surrendered to animal shelter is unrecognizable as a dog. The creature that arrived to the shelter could hardly be called alive, let alone a canine of any breed.

However, the caring staff at the Texas shelter cared for and washed the abandoned pet, revealing an apricot poodle who had still retained its cute features even after the neglect and abuse of the previous owners.

KFOR meteorologist Mike Morgan called this “the worst tornado damage in the history of the world.”

Up to 100 horses were killed on one farm in Moore, KFOR reports.

Jim Couch, city manager for Oklahoma City, told CBS News that the area is facing “significant damage.”

As families and schoolchildren hunkered down in storm shelters to avoid a massive tornado today near Oklahoma City, a liberal “comedian” found time to use the disaster to attack conservatives.
